Schreiner University is a cornerstone of workforce development in Kerrville, offering career-focused programs and strategic industry partnerships that align with the region’s economic priorities. The university plays a leading role in preparing students for high-demand industries through innovative academic programs and hands-on experience.

Center for Talent and Workforce Development (CTWD)
Through the Center for Talent and Workforce Development (CTWD), Schreiner connects students and local employers to build customized training and internship programs tailored to real industry needs.
Aviation Studies Program
Aviation Studies students can earn a bachelor’s degree alongside FAA pilot certificates, including private, commercial, instrument rating, multi-engine, and flight instructor credentials, all in partnership with the flight school at Schreiner Field Kerrville-Kerr County Airport.
Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing Engineering Lab
The Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing Engineering Lab, developed in partnership with KMM, gives engineering students hands-on workspace for coursework, research, and industry-connected projects.
Training Today's Workforce
The Alamo Colleges Greater Kerrville Center (GKC) delivers accessible, career-focused education tailored to the needs of Kerr County’s workforce. By partnering with local employers, GKC equips students with the skills needed to enter the workforce or advance their careers—playing a critical role in building a skilled, job-ready talent pipeline for the region.
Early College High School
Early College High School (ECHS) lets students earn a high school diploma while simultaneously completing an associate degree or up to 60 hours toward a bachelor’s degree, at no cost.
Pathways in Technology Early College High School
P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) pairs a high school diploma with a credential or associate degree, with a strong emphasis on career focus and work-based learning.
Continuing Education
Continuing Education offers accelerated skills training in occupational fields, with options to earn Occupational Skills Awards or stack credits toward a full certificate or degree through the CE-2-Credit pathway.
Skills for Small Business
Skills for Small Business is a Texas Workforce Commission-funded program that lets small businesses apply for tuition assistance to train employees through Alamo Colleges courses.
Empowering Employers & Job Seekers
The Kerrville Career Center is a free resource for both employers and job seekers in Kerr County. If you’re hiring, they can help you find and screen candidates, access labor market data, and connect with training assistance programs. If you’re looking for work, they offer career counseling, job placement support, skills training, and childcare resources to help remove barriers to employment.
Youth Empowerment Services
Youth Empowerment Services (YES) serves eligible individuals ages 16-24 who face barriers to education or employment. The program provides training, education support, and job placement services funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
Work Experience Program
Work Experience Program places qualified candidates in structured, supervised environments where they build real work habits and occupational skills on the path to full-time employment.
On-the-Job Training
On-the-Job Training (OJT) connects dislocated workers and other eligible individuals with hands-on employment opportunities in fields where they can grow.
PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS
Ingram Tom Moore P-TECH
The Ingram Tom Moore P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) program gives high school students a direct path to career-ready credentials, completely tuition-free. Students graduate with a high school diploma, industry certifications, and college credits, all gained through a program built around three focused career tracks: Welding, Cybersecurity, and Healthcare.
The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning and professional mentorship through partnerships with local employers and higher education institutions.
Center Point ISD Culinary Arts Bistro
Center Point ISD recently opened a 4,000-square-foot Culinary Arts Bistro that gives students real kitchen experience in a professional-grade facility. With two classrooms, teaching kitchen labs, and a community bistro space, the program puts students on a direct path to careers in food service and hospitality.
Tivy High School Career & Technical Education
Tivy High School offers one of the most comprehensive CTE programs in the region, giving students the hands-on, career-focused education they need before they ever set foot in the workforce. Current pathways include:
